Welcome to Innovating Humanity, the official podcast for Birmingham Tech Week. I’m Jude Jennison, the host of this podcast and Founder of Leaders by Nature, a leadership and team development company. I work with senior leadership teams to help them align through behavioural change. In my previous career, I worked for IBM for 17 years, but I was never technical. Everything I did, involved leading people, teams and working with clients to explore how we get people to achieve together to meet the business needs. As a result, I’m passionate about how we use technology to be more human. When we went into lockdown due to COVID-19, there was a major shift to working remotely and online. I think people surprised themselves by how easy it was to work in this way. In many cases, productivity and collaboration have increased because people have been forced to think and work in a different way. Empathy and emotional connection increased as people saw the need to reach out and support each other. In parallel, we are seeing a rise in mental health issues as people feel the isolation away from their colleagues with limited face to face contact. In this podcast, I’m interviewing leaders from technology businesses who are at the forefront of changing how we live and work and I’m asking them to share the great work they are doing and challenging them to reflect on how we use technology to be more human and let technology enhance our lives.
